That was about 9:00 this morning, and the snow is even deeper now. It also has more of that cool snow sculpture from chair to deck rail. It's been snowing since Tuesday night, and it's still going strong. Our school district, in its infinite wisdom (NOT), decided that we should go to school yesterday. The roads were slicker than owl snot, so getting to school was quite a treat. Buses got stuck and had a fender-bender or two. We're all much happier with the decision to let us stay home today. On really bad days, so many kids are absent anyway, and it seems a waste for us to brave the roads.
I've spent part of my day catching up in blogland. My brother was here over the weekend, so we spent lots of time at the folks' house. Work has demanded many, many hours at the computer screen this week, so sitting down to read and comment and post just didn't seem like much of a treat. I found out how much I've missed this morning, and ya'll have been so busy. It's so much easier and more fun to stay caught up.
Here's what I've been working on ...
Yep. Shores Block 3 is nearing an end. It seems like it's taken forever to get this far. Those gingerbread corners were tricky, especially when I was trying to keep track of what was happening on the boob tube. I'm very excited to get to the mermaid. When I wander back upstairs, I'm set to work on her hair. I'm hoping to make some good progress so I can show you what's gonna be in my hot little hands when this block is finished.
I'm running upstairs to get busy and enjoy what's left of this delightful day. Make some fun.

Love your shores progress . The house is lovely! Snow before Halloween #@% !!!I think it will be coming here soon too.Not getting much stitching done here lately . Have to get motivated more. look forward to seeing the mermaid. xoxo
Oh Doris it is just beautiful -the scene is gorgeous. The stitching is gorgeous. I can't believe you have snow - it's so early. Mind you we had snow this week last year. But this year it's warm - go figure.

I bet you all have to go to school in the snow much more than around here. Glad you had a snow day today. Your Shores is looking great! I love that block. :D
The second sweetest words in school language...snow day! (with the first sweetest words being "summer break" of course! LOL!) WOW! That is a lot of snow. That much snow would put us out of school for at least a week. It looks so pretty, but I don't know how I would feel about getting it in October. Shores Block 3 looks awesome!!! I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve next. :)
Hope you enjoyed your snow day, Doris! I love them and I usually say bring them on!
Your Shores piece is lovely!

I'm glad you got a snow day at home! I bet yours was quieter than mine, lol ;)
You are doing GREAT on SoHRH!~~ And that snow....yikkeeesss!~ You know us southern girls just cant hang with that~~ Now, you have motivated me to finish up Halloween Hornbook (only 1 block left) and get back to shores....
Theoretically, I do love a snow day. Unfortunately, they almost never cancel university. We just don't get that kind of snow here on the Mason Dixon line.
I love watching people stitch Shores...someday.
Snow so early??? But it made a gorgeous scenery. Love your Shores, what fabric do you stitch on?
Hugs,
My daughter (she works in the Denver area as well) was also home because of the snow and sent me similar pictures.
You used your snow day in a perfect way. Nice new block on Shores.
So pretty--both the view out your window and "Shores." I'm thinking it'd be nice to have a snow day, but we're still bumping along through early fall in the 60s.
Thanks for visiting my blog! The snow outside your window is beautiful. I miss having the occasional unexpected snow day, but I don't miss the cold. Great work on Shores. It's here in my stitching list, too, but I haven't started.
You know, after I started flat ironing my hair, I can't get it to go curly again even when I want to. Go figure!
Rowen's sitting on my lap and she is SO impressed by your snow. Have you gone sliding yet, she wants to know. :)
Wow!! Look at all that snow! Stay safe if you have to venture outside and I'm glad that you had today off. No snow here yet, but someone here thinks that we will have a bad winter. I know that the kids ar hoping for alot of snow and alot of days off. Your stitching is so pretty. It's coming along beautifully!
Ahhhh.... a snow day! I used to love when my boys would get a snow day 'cause it meant I got one, too!
Shores is looking great, Doris! Post again when you get the mermaid done!
Your shore piece is looking really good, but I really love that Ewe and Eye piece. glad it found its way out of the wip drawer.
Last but not least, somehow that snow is as pretty as all the orange I'm seeing here in Alabama.

Shores is looking GREAT!
Love snow days. Your pic is beautiful. I can't wait for a snow day here.......

Hey, we do not get snow days here, looks like we are missing out on some fun.
Enjoy the snow (or looking at it at least) while it lasts, hoping it won't last for too long though..
Have a great week end.
Shores looks great, Doris!
The snow is beautiful... I'm glad you got a snow day out of it! My mother arrived in Arvada on Tuesday so has been enjoying snow much earlier than she normally would in Delaware! ;)
I thought it was a bit cold here....but after seeing your deck, I take it back. You are having the cold weather....mine's just a bit on the cool side. Love your blog! Your sampler is really coming along great. Also...love the turkey's in your parent's back yard! What fun...(I know your dad doesn't think so...)
OMG doris! I would absolutely freeze to death.LOL!!! I am not a cold weather person at all. It was 68 here today and sunny and warm. I love looking at the snow though; it's soooooooo pretty. A very good day to curl up and stitch!
Doris, you nearly make me homesick for snow...nearly....:] It is so beautiful to see outside when you're sitting in a cozy, warm room. Love your happy attitude and your stitching on CHS's piece. That little mermaid is a treasure to motivate any of us to stitch!
What a gorgeous shot of the snow!
I'm so jealous that you have proper winters with snow and all, we just get a horrible damp feeling in the UK!!
Your making great progress on shores :-)
Love your work. Your pieces are beautiful. Thanks for shairing
